The morning opened with one of the most dramatic rulings in event history. Snapper Rocks and San Clemente finished locked in their quarterfinal before officials ordered a surf-off to determine progression. In a high-pressure rematch, San Clemente prevailed 33.57 to 27.36, eliminating the host club in front of a stunned shoreline.
Elsewhere, Burleigh Heads surged past Kirra in a major upset, South Bay knocked out reigning champions North Narrabeen, and Torquay continued their clinical run through the draw.
The semi-finals tightened further. Torquay edged ASCC Portugal by just 0.44 of a point to secure priority into the Final, while Burleigh Heads and San Clemente advanced from a drama-filled second semi that included a late interference penalty.
Under grey skies and steady rain, the Final delivered forty minutes of elite performance surfing.
Torquay struck early and hard. Troy Brooks posted a 9.53, Xavier Huxtable followed with a 9.40, and the Victorian club never relinquished control. San Clemente responded through Kolohe Andino (9.30) and Kirra Pinkerton (9.07), but the early damage proved decisive.
Torquay were crowned inaugural World Club Champions with 37.53, finishing ahead of San Clemente (33.30), Burleigh Heads (28.83) and ASCC Portugal (15.16).
Depth, discipline and execution had defined the championship. On Finals Day, Torquay delivered all three.
